Work in progress

A large part of my practice involves portable art, pieces I can easily transport or make as I travel between places. Here is the last of the embroideries in my Ecosystem series, Dark Oxygen - work in progress, taking a ride on the top deck of the Deutche Bahn, complete with its own portable tool kit. All of my Ecosystem series have been produced in transit.

These embrioderies give me a way to keep on making outside of the studio and are an extension of my automatic drawing process. I love seeing the way my starting point of a random throw down or drift of elements, begins to reveal a larger network as they are secured with thread. The product of a chance meeting between fabric, needle and the untamed mind.
